Teaching


I teach two undergraduate units (courses) at Western Sydney University, The Racial State and Politics, Power and Resistance. I will also teach Introduction to Culture and Society in 2021, a new first year unit for students studying for the renamed Culture and Society major. At postgraduate level, I teach Understanding Race.

Race & Resistance at the Museum of the American Indian (under extremely problematic murals of Christopher Columbus!!)

In 2017, I was the Hans Speier Visiting Professor of Sociology at the New school for Social Research and Eugene Lang College. I taught two courses, Race and Resistance and Race Critical and Decolonial Sociology

Formerly, at the University of Sussex, I taught and convened the following 2nd year undergraduate courses, Political Sociology and Race: Conflict and Change

I also taught the following postgraduate courses: Race Critical Theory offered on the MA in Social and Political Thought Philosophy of Social Science and Social Science Research Practice (MSc in Comparative and Cross-Cultural Social Research & Associated Awards), Theorizing the Social (MA Social and Political Thought)

In 2009, I took part in an Erasmus Teaching Visit at the Transdisciplinary Gender Studies Institute at the Humboldt University, Berlin.
