Current Projects
Together with Gavan Titley (NUIM) I am coordinating “Questioning the European ‘Crisis of Multiculturalism’.” A colloquium took place at NUIM (Ireland) in December 2008 to be followed by a publication. A blog charting the project can be accessed here, or join the Facebook group. A special issue of the European Journal of Cultural Studies will be published in 2011. Abstracts of the articles can be read here. A book on the Global ‘Crisis of Multiculturalism’ is currently under preparation.
I am developing a comparative study of multiculturalism and communalism in Europe and India.
I am also developing independent research on cohesion, diversity and the politics of fear within the context of the ‘crisis of multiculturalism’ in Europe.
Within the Sussex for Cultural Studies, I am developing research strands on Tolerance/Exuberance and Safety/Fear within the Centre’s work programme: Senses and Sensibilities.
